This is Kuma, the baby and his buddy, Charlie. Both are akitas and both love to play rough. They were stopping traffic this day on a busy 4th street in Berkeley.
And last but certainly not least, is my Simkhe. In Yiddish this means party or celebration. And she does celebrate her life. Check out that front paw, it has an extra one on it with wth three little toes. Called polydactyl, or hemingway (guess ernest liked these cats) and they are supposed to be lucky. She has that extra paw on both front feet. She is the alpha of the four legged family here. And both the dogs know it so far, we shall see what happens when Kuma gets a little older. For now he is simply curious about this new creature he only noticed about two weeks ago.
And here is Kenkou, my big boy. He is 4 1/2 years old now and gets along great with Kuma, so far at least. Kenkou means "healthy" in Japanese, and so far he has lived up to his name. Lets hope it stays that way. So you can see the size comparison here of how much the baby Kuma has to grow. Now to get a picture of the cat in our family...
Meet Kuma, the newest member of my family. Kuma means "bear" in Japanese. He is now 17 weeks old (was a mere pup in this picture of only 12 weeks). He is a Japanese Akita and has lots of growing to fit in them paws. This is my fifth akita so far, i love the breed. I also have a 4 yr old at home and will share his pic next.
