Dialogue with a Mother
Mother:
My daughter is a lesbian. (Her mate is very femine.) She has gained a "spare tire" and ultra-short hair.
Wear's men's pants because of her square hips. So, is it normal in Lesbian relationships for one to
have to take on the male role? She was a pretty young woman and I accept her sexual orientation---but
this look is a problem for me. We are best friends . Would it be that her partner requires a Butch
partner as opposed to the Femme? Thanks for any words of insight.
Lesbian.com's response:
I think there is not a "normal" way to be a lesbian. We are quite a diverse community... i myself
am as comfortable in a dress as i am in levis and a black t-shirt. some of us prefer to never wear
pants and some to only wear men's clothes. We each require and desire different qualities in our
lovers and friends. I am sure she is still that beautiful woman you once thought she was... perhaps
just her clothes have changed a bit.
I hope this has been helpful.. i wish you well on your journey...
Cheers
Mel

Mother:
Thank you so much for your insight. She is the same beautiful daughter because she has the greatest
sense of humor and she is my best friend. I won't let this be a stumbling block any longer.
